The Modern Guitarist is run by Alex Hodge, a musician based in London, England. He is competent in many styles of music, and has built up his versatility as a player due to his love of every genre of music, and his wide variety of guitar influences, ranging from Matthew Bellamy of Muse to virtuoso guitarist Guthrie Govan. 

From being heavily exposed to music since before he can remember, he has learned about music in its many forms and at the age of 13, begun classical training on the Piano. A year later, he additionally took up the Guitar and was mostly initially self taught. 


He later studied at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford where he obtained a Diploma of Higher Education. He is an associate of the Registry of Guitar Tutors, is Full Enhanced DBS checked, has undertaken Safeguarding & Prevent training as well as Equality & Diversity training. 


He is the first call guitarist for the Forest Musical Society. He is the peripatetic Guitar Tutor for the Uxbridge College Music Department.


Aside from playing the Guitar and Piano, he also enjoys audio mixing and transcribing music. 

His non-musical interests include Mixed Martial Arts, Psychology and Minimalism.
